We are excited to introduce a brand-new Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for the 2016 Summer Academy! The CIT program is open to any rising 6th - 8th grade EDS student attending Summer Academy classes. Students will spend the morning in the class for which they are registered. After lunch, they will begin their time as a Counselor-in-Training. The CIT program gives your child an opportunity to learn from our teachers and gain hands-on experience working with younger children. This program is available for NO additional fee! Each year, we hire counselors from the Upper School to assist the teachers in Summer Academy. Experience as a CIT gives your child the chance to gain the necessary skills to obtain a paid counselor position when he/she is in Upper School.
We are looking for eight students with strong leadership skills, who are good collaborators, and enjoy working with children. The number of CIT positions is limited; therefore, we will be highly selective in choosing students. Students will be asked to fill out an application, provide at least one letter of recommendation, and be interviewed by the Summer Academy directors.
If your child is interested, he/she should see Mrs. Englebright for an application. If you have any additional questions about the CIT program, contact Mrs. Englebright at firstname.lastname@example.org.
