It Was a Winning Weekend For the Eagles...

As the Day School athletic teams got off to a fast start! On Thursday, the varsity soccer teams kicked off their seasons against South Knox. Though the boys suffered a tough loss, the girls quickly established their presence with an early goal from senior Lauren Goebel. Then later in the first half, sophomore Suha Alhieh made it 2-0. The two teams played an even match for the rest of the game, and the final score was 2-0. Great win girls!

The next day, the middle school boys soccer team played their second game of the season, and got their first win against Central! Eighth grader Nate Phillips had a hat trick, his fourth, fifth, and sixth goals of the year! Eighth grader Karam Rimawi and sixth grader Marshall Traylor added a goal of their own, and the Eagles won going away, 5-0!

On Saturday, the middle school cross country team had their first meet of the year, and in just their first race, qualified for the state championship! Fifth grader Andrew Foster placed 18th and eighth grader Austin Boyle received 12th place. Way to go boys!

Later that day, the girls and boys varsity soccer teams completed a sweep! The girls beat Mater Dei 1-0 behind Suha Alhieh’s second goal of the season and an incredible defensive performance. Then the boys got their first W of the year with a 5-2 obliteration of Boonville. Sophomore Ammar Atia and sophomore Hamza Rimawi both had two goals, and junior Dylan Kanetkar added his own. What a performance and what a weekend!
