La crème de la crème!

The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), the largest association of French teachers in the world, awarded Evansville Day School’s own Ashley Jorgensen `19 the 2019 AATF Outstanding Senior in French Award. This national recognition is given annually to graduating seniors who have demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken.

Ashley Jorgensen was nominated by her French teacher Lena Naef, and was selected out of thousands of applicants to represent “la crème de la crème” in the state of Indiana. Among her many qualifications, Ashley successfully completed eight years of French study during her career at Evansville Day School. Beyond the coursework, she participated in the National French Week Contest and is a French Honor Society Officer. Ashley is also the Secretary of the Global Language Honor Society, and has participated in several activities such as crêpe sales, the AATF’s 2018 National Francophone Culture Trivia Contest and the National French Week Essay Contest.

“Ashley has dedicated herself wholeheartedly these eight years to the study of French in all areas - speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and culture - with a consistent desire to improve her skills as only a true Francophile would, and I am incredibly proud of her,” says Lena Naef, Upper School French teacher.
