Matthew Robertson Receives Music Scholarship

Evansville Day School congratulates rising junior Matthew Robertson on his recent selection for the Dorothy Rapp Music Scholarship through the Vanderburgh County Community Foundation. Matthew received a $1000 scholarship, which he has deferred for his graduation in 2018.

According to the Community Foundation website, the scholarship was “created by the First Baptist Church of Evansville in honor of Robert and Dorothy Rapp to assist young people with their pursuit of education or development of music skills consistent with Christian principles.” Applicants must be active in a Baptist church in Evansville and plan to pursue education or development of music. Matthew was required to write an essay describing how the scholarship will be used. His selection was also based on a transcript of grades and letters of recommendation from his music teacher and church pastor.

Matthew has had an interest in music from a very young age and plays multiple musical instruments. At the age of three, he began playing the drums, but his talents didn’t stop there. When he turned ten, he began learning piano as well as organ.

Evansville Day School is proud of Matthew and his pursuit of music. He is a shining example of our commitment to developing students who are balanced, resilient, globally minded, entrepreneurial learners.
